In this regard, the DCP of Railways K PS Malhotra said that the Prayagraj Express was standing on platform no. 14. There were a lot of people on that platform. The Satantra Senani Express and the Rajdhani Express from Bhubaneswar were late. Many passengers waiting for these trains were standing on platforms 12 and 13. The crowd was so large that the situation went out of control. Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar said that when this tragic accident happened, the Patna-bound Magadh Express was standing on platform 14 of New Delhi station and the Jammu-bound Uttar Sampakranti Express was standing on platform 15. At that time, while going down to platforms 14 and 15, a passenger slipped on the stairs and fell and several people were injured and this is what caused this accident. A high-level committee is investigating this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and many others have already expressed deep grief over the incident. Indian Railways has also ordered a high-level investigation into the incident. All CCTV footage will be reviewed by the railways.
