Australia started their Champions Trophy campaign with a stunning win. England were bowled out by Josh Inglis in Lahore on Saturday. Batting first, England had scored 351 for 8 after losing the toss. Opener Ben Duckett played a brilliant innings of 165 runs off 143 balls, including 17 fours and three sixes. But in the end, it faded away before England's century. With 15 balls remaining, the Aussie brigade snatched victory by 5 wickets (356-5). The hero of the match's unbeaten 120 runs off 86 balls was studded with eight fours and six sixes.
In 2004, New Zealand's 347 for 4 against America was the highest in the Champions Trophy. England broke that record that day. But it did not last long. Australia (356-5) now owns the highest run total in the Champions Trophy after beating England. Chasing the run, however, Australia lost 2 wickets for 27 runs. The final failure was the dismissal of opener Travis Head (5) and captain Steve Smith (6). Then, the pressure increased for the Aussies when Labuschagne (47) and Short (63) were dismissed. But the fifth wicket partnership of 146 runs by Inglis and Alex Carey paved the way for Australia to win. Even though Carey returned to the dugout after 69 runs, Inglis did not stop. After completing his century with a six, he left the field with the team winning. He was also supported by Glenn Maxwell (32 not out from 15 balls).
